Flower-Box Inspiration

Flower-Box Inspiration A forest-green mattress crown is the perfect addition to this pastel-pink girls' bedroom. "This bed crown was inspired by my love of window boxes, and by turning down one upside I found it created a great form for a bed crown," Shoshana Gosselin says. Get the appearance by covering a window box in cloth lining, attaching fabric with hot paste and including a fun cloth to the base for embellishment. Tip: To hide a seam and then cover some defects, use fabric ribbon or bows as a colorful (and practical) adornment.

"One could be made by simply stapling gathered fabric to a plank and directing it to the ceiling," Marian says.

She dressed up a walnut cornice with white paint, trim and moldings for a more feminine and custom-made look. She stapled absolute, white fabric to the rear side of the box and then attached it to the wall. The end result is a crisp accession to the pink walls and a gentle, dramatic signature.
